PictureMarybeth Lorbiecki graduated from the College of St. Catherine with a degree in English and concentrations in theology and journalism. She received a Master's Degree in English, with concentrations in teaching, literature, and writing from Minnesota State University-- Mankato. As an International Rotarian Scholar, she studied philosophy and discourse analysis in England. She has learned about ecology and oceans through her research and conservation work.

Award-winning Author Marybeth Lorbiecki, M.A., energizes youth and adult audiences with her passion for her subjects ... and for the audience themselves. She believes in them, and in our power to engage ourselves in new ideas and the world around us. She helps audiences see  connections between ideas and their own lives and inspires them to act in new ways. She particularly believes in children and young adult, knowing they are our future--she has written and spoken to them for twenty years, creating dynamic books that engage their minds and hearts.

Lorbiecki currently writes and also works in a library. She  loves ideas and tracking down information--historical, literary, and scientific-- and making the stories they reveal come alive for those in her audiences. She has researched and written compelling books for adults and children, with a particular focus on our relationships with the natural world and each other.

Children's Books and Writing Workshops  -- she presents on the topics covered in her many different books and tells stories about the writing of them. Her latest, The Prairie that Nature Built has garnered acclaim from reviewers and bloggers, and especially kids. Lorbiecki visits schools to engage youth in the delights of reading, writing, and the very great outdoors!
